I’m tied up for the night on the town dock in Norwich, at the head of the Thames River. Nice spot. People fishing and hanging out in the park. Had some good Indian takeout for dinner.
A lot of the lower section of the river is devoted to submarines. There’s a big base as well as a builder. I knew it was around here somewhere.
Tomorrow I leave with the tide, heading down to the shore and hopping south to the Connecticut River.
That’s familiar territory. I used to go to that sub base when my father was skipper of one of the old diesel electric subs. Late 1950’s.
Perhaps you know your sub picture is off the Nautilus, first nuke-powered sub.

Of course! I was heading in for a closer look but there was a small base security boat coming my way at high speed. I’m hoping to stop there tomorrow and visit the museum. Hoping I can land there in my dinghy, perhaps optimistically.

Great looking scenery and I really like the wheel house on the red hull boat.

That’s a Robinhood 31. Built in Maine. My first sighting of one. My kind of boat! I can do without a fly bridge though.
