About this Blog

I started this blog in 2017, the second year into my ownership of Mazurka, a Mainship 34. I have had a long standing dream of exploring the major rivers and waterways of eastern North America, and had the time to pursue that dream.

I did the Great Loop on that boat, then in 2019 played with Tin Lizzie, a Mount Gay 30 class racing sailboat. I’ve booked summer 2022 for getting that boat racing again.

2020 introduced a replacement for Mazurka. Escapade is a 50 foot US Navy utility boat converted into a cruising boat.

As I write this in July 2021 I’m in the Maritimes. My working plan is to head down the east coast of the US in the autumn and go up the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway to return north some time in 2022.

Some day I might better organize this, but for now I’m just keeping a regular bare-bones boat travel journal.

I’m happy to have comments. If there’s something you’re curious about reach out. And by all means become a follower and get regular updates. And if I’m in your neighborhood reach out! Will trade endless sea stories for a decent meal 🙂
